ASTRAZENECA
January 2023 to January 2024
AstraZeneca needed to make enhancements to their global pricing systems in order to improve the effectiveness and efficiencies of the business processes.
Engaged to upgrade a Salesforce-based SaaS system used by the AZ Global Pricing Implementation team worldwide in order to simplify, automate and improve efficiencies using workflows, which accelerated processes and improved data quality of pricing documentation to support management decision making.
NEXT PLC
February 2022 to January 2023
Next PLC needed to keep their customer payment systems regularly updated with enhancements to provide their customers with leading systems in order to maintain the retention levels.
Engaged to lead a team of Mainframe developers that deliver rapid medium to small-scale enhancements to Next Pay applications, that provide customers the ability to finance their purchases using the Next Pay online account.
OPEL VAUXHALL FINANCE
May 2021 to February 2022
Opel Vauxhall Finance (OVF) needed to increase its digital strategy by implementing electronic on-boarding for their customers. Engaged to restart a stalled project to implement e-signature capability to enable Opel dealers in France & Italy to offer their customers an electronic journey for purchasing vehicle finance, as part of the OVF Digital Customer On-boarding Strategy.
VOLKSWAGEN GROUP UK
August 2020 - May 2021
Volkswagen Group recognised that high quality customer data needed to be central to all of its applications and that its Best View of Customer (BVoC) system, which incorporated hard-coded, Java based business rules was not delivering this vision. Engaged as a Senior IT Applications Project Manager to restart the Master Data Management (MDM) project, to select a world leading SaaS solution through an ITT and deliver it into the VWG digital landscape.
MERCEDES BENZ UK
July 2019 – April 2020
Mercedes Benz experienced multiple fragmented IT platforms and systems needing rationalising and integrating. Engaged as Senior Digital Project Manager integrating applications increasing security using single sign on protocols. Reduced multiple application logon requirements; selected segments to integrate with MB Global. Led project to upgrade and integrate Salesforce-based business support applications and systems.
Authentication Service; increased security measures; improved management level security and monitoring protocols; and migrated critical server applications from Win2008 to centralised system Win2012 Server platform. Succeeded in delivering more secure integrated platform.
VOLKSWAGEN FINANCIAL SERVICES UK
December 2017 – June 2019
VWFS needed to implement a digital connection between the VW Group brands' online car configurators and the VWFS Finance Calculator. Engaged as Senior Digital Project Manager to digitally transform vehicle configuration, specification and finance calculators for VWFS. Led finance calculator digital improvements for Skoda and Volkswagen.
SOPRA STERIA / SSCL
March 2016 – December 2017
The Cabinet Office charged SSCL to deliver £1bn savings over a 5 year period. Engaged as Senior IT Project Manager to create a new approved BACS Bureau for SSCL to process direct debits. Enhanced existing Oracle based single operating platform; led project teams of geographically spread internal resources and 3rd parties; fully tested and populated systems before launching; implemented SSCL’s current direct debit processing system; met project deadlines and cost objectives; and replaced contracted services. Succeeded in changing business processes, saving £1 million in transaction costs.
VOLKSWAGEN FINANCIAL SERVICES UK
September 2014 – March 2016
VWFS needed to implement an FCA regulated Approved User Warranty scheme. Engaged as Senior Business Transformation Project Manager to rescue VWFS’s recently failed project. Established a new project team; rebuilt relationships with stakeholders and suppliers; built robust PRINCE2 project plan keeping focus on key deliverables; built and populated current platform; linked new warranty platform to BACS; rolled out platform to 750 retailers; and increased used vehicle sales through additional warranty products. Succeeded in launching a robust and regulatory compliant platform.
UNIVERSITY OF NOTTINGHAM
March 2014 – September 2014
The UoN had an ageing app to administer post-graduate applications that was proving to be more difficult to use and unreliable. Engaged as Senior Digital Project Manager to restart failed project building web based post graduate application portal. Controlled £300,000 budget building new robust delivery plan replacing post graduate portal. Used Agile approach including daily stand up meetings, and Jira to manage backlogs.
CAMBRIDGE ASSESSMENT
November 2012 – March 2014
Cambridge Assessment was instructed by the UK Border Agency to digitally verify international student qualifications. Engaged as Senior Application Project Manager to develop digital qualification verification platform. Built cross functional teams; managed internal stakeholders and 3rd party suppliers; kept project focus on key deliverables; used two RFP processes and interviews to select technical suppliers; kept senior stakeholders informed of weekly progress; and processed 95% of data within 2 weeks. Succeeded in launching 2 weeks ahead of deadline and retained accreditation.
TELECITYGROUP
November 2010 – November 2012
TelecityGroup’s rapid acquisition strategy created IT fragmentation making systems unable to keep pace with objectives. Engaged as Senior Finance IT Project Manager to manage a failing project. Executed a project rescue plan with Financial Director backing; introduced new enterprise level COTS finance package; migrated data from Sage500; built highly engaged Agile team delivering rescue plans; designed future proof project framework; and re-engaged Senior Management and Executive stakeholders. Succeeded in delivering COTS Finance solution capable of incorporating further acquisitions and growth.
TelecityGroup’s CRM was fragmented across a number of platforms and countries. Engaged as Senior Finance IT Project Manager to build new platform and business processes. Led the design and build of Microsoft Dynamics based common platform; standardised and improved executive reporting processes; built Agile teams; migrated data from legacy systems; fully tested and populated new platform before release; reduced user impact with staged releases; and visited each European country rolling out new platform. Succeeded in rolling out new UK CRM across TelecityGroup’s European businesses.
OFQUAL
November 2009 – October 2010
Ofqual needed a portal to regulate the bodies providing exams and qualifications. Engaged as PMO & Project Manager to deliver new digital interface to manage 3rd party supplier selection processes. Led project to design, test and build a web portal.
Questioned, shortlisted, selected and ranked bidders based on digital and non digital responses. Implemented enhanced processes for the PMO team to support Programme Managers project delivery and improve quality of all projects within the Regulatory Systems Programme.
CAPGEMINI / LSC
March 2008 – November 2009
The Learning & Skills Council basic functionality CMA system needed enhancing. Engaged by Capgemini as Senior IT Project Manager to transform CMA platform. Led £3.75m project to enhance the Xansa built system within 15 months; managed 3rd party suppliers; established project delivery board to maintain goal focus; divided project into incremental releases, ensuring functionality was delivered frequently; presented customers with evidence of value for money; and implemented a new fully integrated CMA platform. Succeeded in completing the project inside budget and within 15 months.
XANSA / LSC
October 2007 – March 2008
The Learning & Skills Council required new platform to manage contracts for service providers. Engaged as Senior IT Project Manager to rescue failing project with 6 month contracted deadline. Built rescue plan with existing project team; collaborated with Canadian 3rd party; focused teams on benefits and contractual need for completion; gained buy-in from Xansa’s senior management; managed design, build and testing costs within budget; and handed over working system to Capgemini. Succeeded in launching working platform and was subsequently engaged by Capgemini due to recommendation.
T-SYSTEMS
April 2007 – September 2007
Engaged to manage a large (in excess of 1,000 man days over 5 months) Systems Integration project to design an Application that formed part of a bid for a large central Government contract. A DSDM time-boxed approach adopted on the project ensured that all project deliverables were delivered on-time.
